SYNOPSIS: From the author of the highly addictive and bestselling Blue Bloods series, with almost 3 million copies sold, comes a new novel, Melissa de la Cruz's first for adults, featuring a family of formidable and beguiling witches.

The three Beauchamp women--Joanna and her daughters Freya and Ingrid--live in North Hampton, out on the tip of Long Island. Their beautiful, mist-shrouded town seems almost stuck in time, and all three women lead seemingly quiet, uneventful existences. But they are harboring a mighty secret--they are powerful witches banned from using their magic. Joanna can resurrect people from the dead and heal the most serious of injuries. Ingrid, her bookish daughter, has the ability to predict the future and weave knots that can solve anything from infertility to infidelity. And finally, there's Freya, the wild child, who has a charm or a potion that can cure most any heartache.

For centuries, all three women have been forced to suppress their abilities. But then Freya, who is about to get married to the wealthy and mysterious Bran Gardiner, finds that her increasingly complicated romantic life makes it more difficult than ever to hide her secret. Soon Ingrid and Joanna confront similar dilemmas, and the Beauchamp women realize they can no longer conceal their true selves. They unearth their wands from the attic, dust off their broomsticks, and begin casting spells on the townspeople. It all seems like a bit of good-natured, innocent magic, but then mysterious, violent attacks begin to plague the town. When a young girl disappears over the Fourth of July weekend, they realize it's time to uncover who and what dark forces are working against them.

With a brand-new cast of characters, a fascinating and fresh world to discover, and a few surprise appearances from some of the Blue Blood fan favorites, this is a page-turning, deliciously fun, magical summer read fraught with love affairs, witchcraft, and an unforgettable battle between good and evil.

Okay so I have tried Blue Bloods before and really did not like it but this one had witches so yeah...had to give it a try!

THE WORLD: Pretty much like we know it just with witches inside it. Tho, they are very secret as once upon the time there were trials and then they basically had to agree to not use their magic anymore. BUT don't be alarmed. We have magic in this book, oh yes.

CHARACTERS: So our main characters in this book is actually a witch family, two daughters and a mother. The mother is called Joanna and is a pretty calm character which is longing for her missing son and husband is and a bit jealous of the bond her daughters have. But I think it is really a representation of a normal woman. I cannot really say that I liked Joanna or that I disliked her, she is rather neutral in such sense. Next we have Freya who is what you image a typical college girl went wild. Well okay Freya is not in college but she is engaged to this guy and during her engagement party she starts an affair with a brother of her fiance. Frankly, I disliked Freya, even when all things came out. I just don't know, she is not a very likable character, maybe because she doesn't have much of a personality but yeah...not a fan. And then we have Ingrid...obviously left my favorite last. Well so where do I begin? First of all Ingrid is running a library! Yes! Also she not just loves the books and wants people to read them and does everything to get funds to get library running but she also promotes unknown self published authors. Like they leave her a book of their book and then she would put the book on New arrivals or so stand for a few weeks and let people read it before shelving the book on usual shelves. Also, she does magic of course, like she does little things to help people. And she is very smart, a total opposite to Freya. Also Ingrid has a love interest and I think their little story was very cute...you really have to read this book just to get a glance at Ingrid and her life!

LOVE: There is plenty. There is also very descriptive sex. Actually a whole story line concentrated on love thingy but nope, it is not a romance book. Its just why things happen the way they happen.

PLUS: Magic and Ingrid. I really want to watch the tv show now but I am so busy...hopefully next year I will have some free time.

MINUS: The main story felt a little bit..well boring. Like why things are happening this way and especially whole Freya story...boring!

OVERALL:  I think it was a pretty cool book about witches. I went into it with very low expectations and so ended up really liking it. Will be continuing with the series!
