BLURB:
Lena Duchannes is unlike anyone the small Southern town of Gatlin has ever seen, and she's struggling to conceal her power, and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. But even within the overgrown gardens, murky swamps and crumbling graveyards of the forgotten South, a secret cannot stay hidden forever.

Ethan Wate, who has been counting the months until he can escape from Gatlin, is haunted by dreams of a beautiful girl he has never met. When Lena moves into the town's oldest and most infamous plantation, Ethan is inexplicably drawn to her and determined to uncover the connection between them.

In a town with no surprises, one secret could change everything.

EXPECTATIONS: I own this book for more than 2 years but somehow I just never got around to it till one day I was cleaning out my shelves and decided I will give it a shot.

THE WORLD: We are in the world that looks just like ordinary every world you and I live it. But...when you look closer it is actually the world of magic. I love this kind of worlds, it gives me hope that there is really magic in the world and that all these paranormal creatures be it vampires, wereanimals, witches and what not do exist in the shadows. Call me crazy but life is so much more beautiful and exciting when you believe a little bit. Of course my side of scientist screams I need a reality check but shut up for now, science smart pants, it is time for magic.

CHARACTERS: This book is really a story of Ethan and Lena - two kids who are destined to be together and who have to fight the world to get there. Alright alright I am a little bit dramatic here but really, it is indeed a story of Ethan and Lena. Ethan is a boy raised in a small village called Gatlin and frankly he cannot wait to finally graduate and get the hell out of this forgotten place on Earth. In general Ethan is a very normal teenager, there is nothing exceptionally wrong or supernatural about him. Lena on the other hand is new to town, she comes to live with her uncle who is known as a crazy of this little town and then suddenly whole village unites against her. The stupid closed minded people are on full display here. But let's talk about Lena. So she is not just a girl, yes I know you are rolling your eyes at this phrase but really, she is a witch! Or well she is about to become one. At certain age she will be determined to be a good or a bad witch aka to stay with the family or lose her humanity and go off board doing crazy evil things. Lena is scared well actually freaked out about becoming the dark witch so she tries to do everything to avoid it and then the story basically takes off from there...

ROMANCE: Lena and Ethan are destined to be together and no it is not just oh one true love blaaaah. There are actually deeper things in this book that make them ideal together. In general they are a cute couple that does not make you puke.

GOOD: First of all I did not know this book is about witches so imagine my surprise when I am reading it and suddenly bam the story is actually about old witch family. Woooohoooo! But no really it was a very entertaining read, actually one of the good YA witch books without girl on girl hate and oh how to make him fall in love with me magic.

BAD: It was not perfect, there were some part that I wish did not exist but in general there are only small things.

OVERALL: If you are a big witches fan like I am definitely go for it. It is not perfect and it is YA but we don't exactly have a big variety when it comes to witch books.

What do you think about BEAUTIFUL CREATURES?
