BLURB:
Something is out there, something terrifying that must not be seen. One glimpse of it, and a person is driven to deadly violence. No one knows what it is or where it came from.

Five years after it began, a handful of scattered survivors remains, including Malorie and her two young children. Living in an abandoned house near the river, she has dreamed of fleeing to a place where they might be safe. Now that the boy and girl are four, it's time to go, but the journey ahead will be terrifying: twenty miles downriver in a rowboat--blindfolded--with nothing to rely on but her wits and the children’s trained ears. One wrong choice and they will die. Something is following them all the while, but is it man, animal, or monster?

Interweaving past and present, Bird Box is a snapshot of a world unraveled that will have you racing to the final page.

EXPECTATIONS: I heart about this book from booktuber as one of scariest books out there so one day I got it from the library, turned it on during the day and did not stop till I was done.

THE WORLD: Very ordinary world till one day reports start to come from Russia that people suddenly start to act very violent and attack each other. Then same reports start to come from Alaska and then it starts to get closer and closer to home till one day warnings on TV and radio tell you to cover your windows and not look outside. Whoever is out there one look and you lose your mind and kill yourself. There are no exceptions. Eventually radio stations, TV stations starts to go down. There are no positive news but for one recording telling you that you can come to so and so address and that there are survivors there. You pack your stuff and you drive but driving involves seeing....

CHARACTERS: Malorie is our main characters however as book goes back and forth we also meet a group of people Malorie stayed with for a long time and even how it all started. This book is however not about people, it's not developing of friendships in horrible times or even finding love. It is about fear and survival. Nobody knows who is out there, if you want to go out you have to cover your eyes or you risk looking at whoever is our there and losing your mind. Human brain cannot handle the waves it receives by seeing whoever is out there and withing minutes you just kill yourself. The story is basically Malorie finding a group of survivors and staying with them, trying to figure our a method to survive because food is running out, gathering dogs on theory that they might be trained as guides and most importantly they might not be affected by creatures. It's day on day life, how they go get water, how they go look for food and medicine. And then we also follow a story of Malorie alone with two young kids travelling to safe place via water, how they all have their eyes colored and how they listen and how they get attacked by wild wolves and just so amazing...the children are trained from the birth to rely on hearing rather than seeing, they are not lost when their eyes are covered...

ROMANCE: None.

GOOD: This book is amazing from first to the last page. Take eyesight away and it is scary as hell, I think it is the most scary book I have ever read! Also we never are told that these creatures are actually bad, it's just that brain cannot handle seeing them and goes nuts leading to suicide, and I don't mean clear hanging one selves, if nothing is available human simply punches the wall with his head till he dies. It is that powerful.

BAD: Nothing. Though it might traumatize you.

OVERALL: AMAZING! I cannot recommend enough! Also the book is called Bird Box because the group finds these birds that scream when somebody comes near so they hang a box full of them by the door to know when the creatures are near the house. Bloody hell so scary!

What do you think about BIRD BOX?
